Tonight, I think we will find out if a team can win a game without actually scoring a run. Two excellent pitchers facing two bad offenses? We may not see any runs for the rest of the weekend.
You know Johnny Cueto desperately wants to make up for his atrocious performance last Monday against the Phillies. The real question is whether or not he is hurt or if it was just one of those nights. I'm fearful that it was the former, but hopeful for the latter. We'll see tonight, I suppose.
Johann Santana hasn't been his normal self lately. Over his last six starts, his ERA is 5.79 and the Mets are 2-4 in those games. Santana might just be suffering from a case of the Harangs since the Mets have scored a mere 3.06 runs per start for him. Hopefully, that trend will continue today.
Jay Bruce is back in the lineup tonight, batting 2nd. Strange that he would come back against a tough lefty, but hopefully the challenge will cause him to be more focused. I know we'd all like him to show us something special soon.
Game time is 7:10. With the pitchers on the mound, it could be over by 9:10.
